Bait Season Ends

August 1st Crowley Lake enters it's restricted fishing season. No live or scented baits, and only barbless lures or flies may be used. You can only keep 2 trout with a minimum length of 18inches.

You don't need fancy equipment or skills to enjoy some of the best fishing of the season! Pinch down the barbs on a Thomas Bouyant or Kastmaster and have tons of fun.

Perch: You may still keep 25 perch but you have to fish using the same regulations. Come in and get some non-scented Sierra Slammer perch jigs, or even troll for them. They usually come out strong again in September.

Trolling Report August 26, 2019

Trolling Report-Ryan Kitts & Fred Johnson (KJ Flashers)

Hello Anglers, the water temperatures are hovering around 71'-75' and fishing has been picking up this last week. I am finding the best luck trolling outside of the weeds in 20-40 feet of water running 4-5 colors of lead core line and looking for water temperatures to be as low as you can find them.

It is now that time of season to hunt McGee bay outside of the fly fishing crew, Alligator point, in front of the harbor down to beaver cove and the dam and do do not be afraid to try Chalk bluffs and Crooked Creek.  I have spent some time up in the North Arm and it has produces some very big fish but you have to be patient and cover the water. You must move around the lake until you find the bite.
Best lures seem to be the  Tasmanian devils and I have had luck with all color patterns.  The Bloody ripper is working and the bleeding frog the best. Remember the speed for these lures are 2.5-4 mph
Thomas Buoyant lures are working very well, but the speed is important and you must check for weeds all the time. Best speed is 1.5-2.5 mph. Colors are sunset, brown trout and bleeding frog.

Rapalas are working but not as well as above lures however I have not spent much time with them. Remember speed is imperative and moving around the lake will produce a good fishing experience.
Tight lines and see you on the lake!

Fly Fishing Report September 29, 2019

Wooooo!! The fly fishing is still on fire! Lots of big fish are being caught along with the occasional flurry of

small trout. the whole lake is fishing great so really good chance finding your own little honey hole. with the

fall season upon us, the weather does affect the bite. warmer days have been better than colder days. the

atmospheric(barometric)pressure does play a part in stillwater fishing. the huge midge hatch happens

around mid day, so the bite can go on all afternoon. the lake has been dropping but not as fast as

anticipated which is great since it has not affected the fly fishing. not necessary to fish deep.

the fish are anywhere from 6 to 20ft.

FYi- Browns are in prespawn mode!!!  with the lake level staying high, Brownzilla on the prowl!!!! :)

location: Green Banks, Owens Channel(north arm), West Flats(north arm),

Barts Bay(north arm), Mcgee Bay, Little Hilton bay, Crooked crk bay

flies:  albino Barons, copper tigers, zebra midge, perch fry imitations, balance perch, leeches
